Three medals for Memorial University athletes at AUS track and field championships

Memorial Sea-Hawks track and field athletes won three medals over the weekend at the Subway Atlantic University Sport track and field championship in southern New Brunswick.

At the Irving Oil Field House on the University of New Brunswick-Saint John campus, Sea-Hawks’ pole vaulters Niamh Molloy and Nick Pike won silver and bronze medals respectively, while Shae LeDevehat won bronze in the pentathlon.

The Dalhousie Tigers claimed both the men's and women's championship banners at the Atlantic conference’s championship.



The Tigers’ women’s team amassed 122 points over the two days of competition to win its 31st straight championship banner. St Francis Xavier finished second with 92 points, while Moncton was third, with 70. Memorial placed sixth.

The Tigers’ men’s team won for the sixth consecutive year with a total of 151 points, 23 better than UNB’s 128. St. FX X-Men were third followed by Saint Mary’s, Memorial, Moncton, UPEI, and St. Thomas.

This year's U SPORTS track and field championships are being hosted by the University of Alberta in Edmonton, March 5-7.
