DARTMOUTH, N.S. — Team Mary-Anne Arsenault opened the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial championship with a victory on Monday.
The Arsenault rink defeated Team Theresa Breen 10-7 at the Dartmouth Curling Club.
Arsenault scored early, taking the lead in the first, but Breen responded in the second adding a single of her own. Arsenault took control of the game in the third, scoring four and never looked back.
Arsenault would add two in the sixth and 10th as well as a single in the ninth.
As for Breen, she would go on to score twice in the fifth and seventh, while only adding singles in the fourth and eighth.
In other action, Colleen Jones beat Julie McEvoy 9-3, while defending champion Jill Brothers knocked off Mary Myketyn-Driscoll 8-3. Tanya Hilliard doubled Mary Mattatall 6-3.
Action continues Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Brothers playing Breen, Jones facing Mattatall, Hilliard challenging McEvoy, and Arsenault against Myketyn-Driscoll.
