BEN EOIN, N.S. — Ski Ben Eoin has set Thursday, Jan. 14 as the targeted date to open the new ski season.

That date will be influenced by the weather’s impact on snowmaking efforts, as temperatures of -3 C or colder are needed to operate the facility’s snowmaking equipment.

Across the island at Ski Cape Smokey, Monday, Jan. 18 remains the targeted opening date.

That winter recreation spot in Ingonish relies on natural snow and will open earlier if more snow falls.
