The Newfoundland Growlers are losing another player from their 2019-20 roster, but this time, it’s of the team’s own doing.
The ECHL Growlers announced Monday they have traded defenceman Tommy Panico to the Orlando Solar Bears for future considerations.
Panic, a 25-year-old from New Jersey and products of the UMass-Lowell collegiate program, appeared in 39 games for Newfoundland during their truncated 2019-20 ECHL seaosnseason, registering three goals and an assist.
The Growlers recently had four key players from last year’s roster — forwards Zach O’Brien, Marcus Power and Brady Ferguson, and defenceman Michael Kapla — sign free-agent contracts with European clubs.
