COXHEATH, N.S. — The Memorial Marauders opened the Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoffs with a key victory over the Riverview Ravens on Friday.

The Sydney Mines school doubled the Ravens 4-2 at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath to open the double round robin league playoffs.

Ian Jenkins scored twice while Evan Fraser and Will Lawless added single markers for the Marauders (1-0-0-0).

Bryce MacKenzie and Colby McCarron replied with goals for the Ravens (0-1-0-0).

Memorial’s Andrew Marsh made 29 saves. Riverview’s Pat Hinchey stopped 18 of 22 shots.

The playoffs continue on Sunday with the Glace Bay Panthers hosting the Sydney Academy Wildcats at 7 p.m. at Miners Forum in Glace Bay.
