SYDNEY, N.S. — A former Cape Breton Eagles goaltender has landed in Pittsburgh.
Maxime Lagace recently signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2020-21 season.
The deal will have an average annual value of $700,000 at the NHL level.
The 27-year-old spent last season with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, appearing in 33 games with the Boston Bruins affiliate. He had the second-best record in the AHL, posting a 22-7-3-0 record with a 2.37 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage.
Lagace, a product of Saint-Augustin, Que., has 17 games of NHL experience, all of them with the Vegas Golden Knights from 2017-19. During that period of time, he had a 6-8-1-0 record.
He played eight games for the Eagles during the 2013-14 season before being traded to the Shawinigan Cataractes. He later finished his major junior career with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
