SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Eagles and Moncton Wildcats games scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to COVID-19.

The Wildcats announced shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday the games, set for Friday and Saturday in Moncton, would be cancelled due to the city of Moncton moving into the orange level under New Brunswick's COVID-19 recovery plan.

Shortly after, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced the postponed of games for the Eagles and Saint John Sea Dogs after a staff member from the Sea Dogs tested positive for the virus.

Saint John and Cape Breton played at Centre 200 on Wednesday. The Eagles organization confirmed the staff member did not travel to Cape Breton with the team on Wednesday.

As of now, the Eagles players will not be tested for COVID-19. The team will not competed until an investigation by public health officials is complete.
