Cape Breton Eagles forward Mathias Laferrière signs contract with St. Louis Blues

SYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton Eagles forward Mathias Laferrière signed a three-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.

Laferrière, who was drafted in the first round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft in 2016, was acquired by the Eagles during the 2016-17 season.

In 195 career QMJHL games, the Montreal, Que., native has recorded 48 goals and 90 assists for 138 points. Last season, he had career highs in goals (28), assists (46) and points (74).

Laferrière was drafted by the Blues in the sixth-round, No. 169 overall, at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Laferrière was also named to Team QMJHL for the upcoming Canada Russia series, scheduled for next month in Saint John and Moncton.
