Black, Nova Scotia improve to 3-1 at Scotties Tournament of Hearts Monday

Nova Scotia will play both Ontario and the wild card team Tuesday with first place in Pool 'B' on the line

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Team Nova Scotia improved their record to 3-1 at the Scotties Tournament on Hearts Monday afternoon, defeating Newfoundland and Labrardor 9-6.

The Mary-Anne Arsenault-skipped team, which features Sydney River’s Christina Black as the third, is tied for first place in Pool 'B' with Team Ontario and the wild card team.

Earlier in the day, Nova Scotia downed Yukon 10-4. The Yukon team enter's Tuesday's play with an 0-4 record.

This year’s Scotties is the third national championship for Black who captured a bronze medal at the 2018 event as a member of the Arsenault rink.

The 2019 Scotties was held at Centre 200 in Sydney. The championship was won by Calgary’s Chelsea Carey rink which is back at the bonspiel as Team Canada.

Nova Scotia will play Ontario at 3:30 p.m. and the wild card team, which features skip Jennifer Jones at 8:30 p.m.
