Metros drop 6-3 decision to Kent, N.B., squad

O'LEARY, P.E.I. — Isaac Knox, Alex Hutchinson and Chandler Wood each had a goal and an assist to lead the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers Friday in Island Junior Hockey League action.

The Kent Koyotes from New Brunswick doubled the A&S Scrap Metal Metros 6-3 in the other game of the night. Here’s a recap of the games.

Red Wings 4, Vipers 3

Silas Handrahan had the other goal for the Red Wings while Alex Morrissey, Connor Morrissey and Isaac Callaghan each had an assist. The game was played at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre.

C.J. McCardle had a goal and an assist for the Vipers. Tyler Gallant and Jesse Jay also scored while Nick Trainor, Morgan Darbyson, Tayler Read, Noah Stewart and Dylan Wheatley each chipped in a helper.

Luke Oliver made 28 saves for the win while Ben Parent stopped 37 shots in the loss.

The Red Wings, who held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1, improved to 8-0-0 while the Vipers dropped to 3-4-1.

Kent (N.B.) 6, Metros 3

Samuel Audet had two goals to pace the Koyotes while singles went to Francis Robere, Justin Guitard, Simon Henman and Maxime Saulnier.

Connor Gray had a goal and two assists to pace the Metros at MacLauchlan Arena. Colin Koughan and Jordan Birt also scored for the home side while assists went to Caden Kielly, David Sato, Grant MacAdam and Koughan.

Alex Roussel stopped 24 shots in the win while Noah Laybolt made 36 saves in the loss. Kent held 3-1 and 4-3 period leads. The Metros (4-7-0) are second in the IJHL.

Sunday

There are two games scheduled for Sunday.

The Red Wings host the Hynes Paving Maniacs (2-8-0) at 2:15 p.m. in Evangeline while the Vipers host the Metros at 7 p.m. in Kensington.
