Poley leads Island golfers Thursday at Canada Games

WINNIPEG, MAN. – Jason Poley shot a 4-over 76 Wednesday following a rain delay at the Canada Games golf competition at the Southwood Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.

He is 5 over (149) after two rounds, 13 strokes behind Quebec’s Christopher Charles Vandette, who shot a 69 Wednesday for a two-round total of 136.

Tyler Hashmi shot an 83 on Wednesday and is at 157 while Alex Taylor had an 81 and is at 159.

The Island squad has a 304 score after two rounds in the men’s team event while Quebec leads at 280.

Lexi Murphy was the top Islander on the women’s side, shooting a 96. She has a two-round total of 208 while Quebec’s Céleste Dao and British Columbia’s Alisha Lau are tied for the lead at 143.

Islanders Reese MacDonald shot 101 (205) and Mya Chisholm 103 (200).

They are at 398 in the women’s team event while Quebec leads at 285.
