SUMMERSIDE – The P.E.I. Sports Hall of Fame will welcome new four new members on Friday as its annual induction ceremony takes place at Credit Union Place.
Curlers Kathy O’Rourke and Peter MacDonald, builder of the sport of fencing Lothar Zimmermann and well-known hockey, baseball and harness racing athlete, coach and official Gerard (Smitty) Smith will bring the P.E.I. Sports Hall of Fame inducted members to just under 200.

Tickets for the induction ceremony, which is once again sponsored by P.E.I. Mutual Insurance Company, are now sold out. Those who have purchased tickets in advance, or have arranged pick-up, are asked to arrive no later than 6:15 p.m., and the dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“We are looking forward, once again, to a fine evening, where we can celebrate those who have contributed so much to sport on the Island,” said Hall chair and induction emcee Paul H. Schurman. "For many, induction into the P.E.I. Sport Hall is the icing on the cake of their sporting career, and we pleased to recognize and remember their important contributions.”
