P.E.I. soccer stars recognized during recent awards ceremony

P.E.I. Soccer Association held its annual awards recently, recognizing the best Island players, coaches, volunteers and officials. Shown with their ADL certificates of achievement are those who were recognized as the top players of the year. From left are Mike Eyolfson, representing awards sponsor ADL; Sam Smiley (UPEI Panthers, senior male player of the year); Nikki Roberts (Holland College Hurricanes, senior female player of the year); Lauren Clark (Summerside United and P.E.I. F.C., junior female player of the year) and Kirk McAleer, president of the P.E.I. Soccer Association. Missing from the photo is Riad Jaha of Sherwood Parkdale Rangers and the Vancouver Whitecaps Youth Academy, who was named junior male player of the year. In addition to the players of the year, the Eliot River Ramblers under-13 girls first division team two were named team of the year.
