CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Breauna Rivoli-Johnson filled the stat sheet Sunday for the Holland College Hurricanes.
The third-year guard in her first year with the Hurricanes had 19 points, nine steals, six assists, four rebounds and two blocks in the ‘Canes 82-73 victory over the University of King’s College Blue Devils in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association women’s basketball action.
Ty’Keiia Beals scored a game-high 22 points as all five Hurricanes starters scored 11 or more points. Jayla Verney had 14, including eight from the free-throw line, while Tyleigha Nelson and Lexi MacInnis chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Chloe Oxner and Candace Reynolds led King’s with 17 points apiece.
Holland College held quarter leads of 17-10, 34-23 and 57-45.
Both teams hit 42 per cent of their shots with King’s winning the rebounds battle (50-32) and Holland College taking better care of the ball as King’s had 30 turnovers compared to the Hurricanes 16.
It was the second win of the weekend for the Hurricanes over King’s as Holland College won Saturday’s contest 66-50.
Verney scored 16 and Beals 15 to lead the Hurricanes. Rivoli-Johnson had 12 points and MacInnis had nine rebounds and seven points.
Jessica Simm had 11 points and 10 rebounds for King’s.
Holland College held quarter leads of 18-11, 36-18 and 57-33.
The Hurricanes improved to 7-2 while King’s is 4-7.
