White has best round among Islanders at junior golf nationals

HARTLAND, N.B. — The four Islanders competing at the Canadian junior boys’ golf championship in Hartland, N.B., missed the cut after Tuesday’s second round.

Belfast’s Cam White missed the cut by two strokes after following up an opening-round 2-over 75 with a 74 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 5-over 149 at Covered Bridge Golf & Country Club.

Summerside’s Justin Caron was 6-over on Tuesday after an even-par round on Monday to finish play 6-over. Charlottetown’s Luke Dillon finished 13-over 157 after an 82 on Tuesday while Summerside’s Sam McNeill was 15-over 159 after shooting 80 on Day 2.

Defending champ Christopher Vandette, 18, of Beaconsfield, Que., leads by four strokes entering Wednesday’s third round.
