MONTREAL, QUE. – The UPEI Panthers withstood a late charge from the Memorial Sea-Hawks Sunday to win 82-79 in exhibition women’s basketball action at Concordia University in Montreal.
Jenna Mae Ellsworth led the Panthers with 25 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists while Reese Baxendale had 12 points and Karla Yepez 11.
Brooklyn Wright had a game-high 32 points to pace Memorial.
The Panthers held quarter leads of 19-18, 35-29 and 63-51.
UPEI opened the tournament with a 70-54 victory over Laurentian before losing 75-44 to the host Stingers.
The Panthers host the Sea-Hawks to open the Atlantic University Sport regular season on Saturday, Nov. 3.
