BIBLE HILL, N.S. – Lexi MacInnis had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Holland College Hurricanes to the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) women’s basketball semifinal Friday in Bible Hill, N.S.
Tyleigha Nelson had 11 rebounds, 10 points, three assists and three steals as the third-seeded Hurricanes defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 61-57.
Jayla Verney chipped in 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Megan Baisley had 13 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Seawolves.

Holland College led 19-16 after the first quarter but the game was tied 27-27 at the half and 45-45 going to the fourth.
The Hurricanes will play the second-place Mount Allison Mounties in Saturday’s semifinal at 3 p.m.
MacInnis was named the conference’s rookie of the year on Friday.
Hurricanes point guard Breauna Rivoli Johnson, who is out for the season with a broken finger, was named a first team all-star, as was Charlottetown native Jessica Patenaude, who is playing with the St. Thomas Tommies. Jayla Verney made the second all-star team.
Mount Allison’s Keirsten Mangold was named the player of the year and defensive player of the year.
Men
The Hurricanes men’s squad had a bye into tonight’s 6 p.m. semifinal against Mount Saint Vincent Mystics, the winner of Friday’s late quarter-final with UNBSJ.
Holland College forward Jace Colley was named rookie of the year and bench boss Josh Whitty the coach of the year. Colley, Marcus Dawkins and Roosevelt (Chicken) Whyley were named first-team all-stars while Mount Allison’s Thomas Legallais took home player of the year honours.
