FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Tiger Woods, his girlfriend, and his restaurant have been named in a wrongful death suit, following the death of a bartender who worked at the 15-time major champion’s restaurant in Florida.
The lawsuit, filed this week, alleges that Nicholas Immesberger was over-served at The Woods Jupiter restaurant following a shift in December 2018, before dying in a car crash in his Corvette with a blood alcohol level triple the legal limit.
The lawsuit alleges that Woods’ girlfriend, Erica Herman, hired Immesberger as a bartender while knowing he had a history of alcohol-related issues.
Woods was asked about the lawsuit on Tuesday at the PGA Championship.
“We’re all very sad that Nick passed away,” Woods said. “It was a terrible night, a terrible ending, and just — we feel bad for him and his entire family. It’s very sad.”
Lawyers for Immesberger’s family planned a press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the same time Woods met with media at Bethpage Black. The Masters champion is the betting favourite to win this week.
