CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Philicia Taylor and Jonah Wilton are the Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.

Taylor, a third-year middle from Nassau, Bahamas, had a strong weekend with consistent play at the net, helping power the ‘Canes to three straight-set victories to end their women’s volleyball regular season.

Taylor, a tourism and travel management student, recorded seven kills and eight digs during the nine sets as Holland College defeated the Mount Allison Mounties and swept two matches from the University of King’s College Blue Devils.

Wilton finished second in men’s singles at the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association badminton championships in Sackville, N.B. It qualified the Vernon River native to compete at the nationals in Bible Hill, N.S.,  from March 6-9.

Wilton, a sport and leisure management student who also plays soccer for the ’Canes, teamed with Craig McAskill to go 2-2 and finish third in the doubles competition.
