States, Colley earn Hurricanes weekly awards

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Brittany States and Jace Colley are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
States, a third-year middle with the women’s volleyball team, led the ‘Canes attack during a weekend where they split matches with the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics and Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.
States, Bathurst, N.B., native who is in the sport and leisure management program, recorded seven kills, one assist, two aces, one dig and one block in Saturday’s four-set loss to the Mystics. In Sunday’s straight-sets win over the Dragons, States recorded nine kills, three aces and seven digs.
Colley, a second-year forward with the men’s basketball team, led the ‘Canes to a 107-72 win over the UNBSJ Seawolves in Saint John, NB on Sunday.  The East Preston, N.S., native who is taking the business administration program had 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and one block.
