HOLTEN, NETHERLANDS – Charlottetown’s Martin Sobey finished 18th and was the first Canadian to complete the Holten ETU Sprint Triathlon Premium European Cup recently in the Netherlands.

The 21-year-old completed the course in 56:53 while Ignacio Gonzalez Garcia of Spain won the race in 55:45.

Sobey completed the swim in 9:13, the cycling in 27:50 and the run in 18:37. The remaining time came while transitioning from one discipline to the next.

It was Sobey’s third European race. He heads back to Canada for two races in Quebec and one in New Jersey before preparing for nationals in Kelowna, B.C., in August.
