CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The draw was held Tuesday evening for The Guardian Gold Cup and Saucer final and Sir Pugsley will leave from the coveted rail in the finale of Old Home Week 2019 at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
A winner in Trial 2 in 1:52.4, Sir Pugsley will leave from Post 1 after drawing the position during the official ceremony featuring the Gold Cup and Saucer ambassadors. Jason Hughes drove Sir Pugsley to his trial victory for trainer Patrick Shepherd and owner Robert Woodburn of St. Thomas, Ont.
Trial 1 winner Midway Island will leave from Post 7 in the 60th edition of the Gold Cup and Saucer for driver Travis Cullen and trainer Rachel Andrew. The Maine duo of Bettors Fire N and Rock Diamonds N will leave from Posts 2 and 6, respectively, in the $60,000 race set for midnight on Saturday evening.
