CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The UPEI Panthers are Maritime rugby champs and aren’t done yet.

The men’s squad leaves Tuesday for Guelph, Ont., to participate in the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship. The event runs from Thursday to Sunday.

The Panthers defeated the St. FX X-Men 17-10 Saturday at MacAdam Field to win the Maritime title.

The Panthers started strongly and established a 10-0 lead in the first half. The X-Men battled back to tie it 10-10. Defences on both sides held firm and it would take a Morgan Campbell try and Mark Lloyd conversion for the Panthers to regain the lead.

Brandon Adams and Alex Rose each scored a try in the victory.
