HALIFAX, N.S. – The Saint Mary’s Huskies got up by as many as 32 points and cruised to a 86-64 win over the UPEI Panthers Saturday in Atlantic University Sport men’s basketball action.

The Huskies, which held quarter leads of 29-11, 46-20 and 67-41, swept the opening weekend matchup with the Panthers in Halifax.

Nikita Kasongo had a game-high 21 points for Saint Mary’s while Kemar Alleyne and Osman Barrie each chipped in 14.

Milorad Sedlarevic had 16 points and nine rebounds to pace the Panthers while Stefan Vujisic had 11 and six.

UPEI shot better than Saint Mary’s but attempted 18 fewer shots. The Panthers also only hit 58 per cent from the line while the Huskies connected on 86 per cent of their free throws.

The Panthers host the UNB Varsity Reds on Friday at 8 p.m. in their home opener.
