CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Tsuyoi Judo Club will be holding its first judo tournament of the year 'Kizuna Friendly' in support of judo mama Idalia Saturday at the Sherwood Elementary School.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 10 a.m. The cost is $15 with all proceeds from the tournament going to Idalia Livingstone.
Matt MacGrath, sensei of Tsuyoi Judo Club, wanted to do something to help Livingstone with her cancer diagnosis.
“We decided to do a tournament with all proceeds going to the family who have two kids ages nine and 13 in judo,” he said. “There will be a canteen on site, 50/50 draw, and an online auction in addition to the tournament proceeds.”
The club is also hosting an online silent auction in support. Livingstone and her family have been longtime members of the club and it wanted to show its support.
The online auction will run from Saturday until Oct. 5. It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/429034741072737 .
