CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Guillaume Boucard has made an immediate impact on the Island Storm and Monday he was named the National Basketball League of Canada Canadian of the week.
The six-foot-six Montreal native was acquired in a trade with the St. John’s Edge on Jan. 7. The Carleton alum averaged 15.5 points per game in his first two games with the Storm, helping them win both contests.
“As soon as he became available, we couldn't answer quick enough,” said Storm head coach Tim Kendrick. “This guy can play at both ends of the court, he's been a really good addition with our second unit, and we feel like, for us, he's been a real help for us and he's only going to get better.”
Bruce Massey of the Cape Breton Highlanders was named the player of the week after averaging 35.3 points in three games.
"It's a true testament from the plan we put in place in the beginning of the season," said Highlanders general manager Tyrone Levingston. "With Bruce Massey and Jamal Reynolds, we're going to put all our eggs in the basket to do what is necessary, which is work and prepare to be the best that we can be, and it's coming to fruition. Bruce is an amazing player, as everybody is now starting to see, but we're on a mission this year and it's starting to produce fruit. His hard work speaks volumes for the vision of the club."
