CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Holland College Hurricanes volleyball teams land in Nova Scotia this weekend for Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) games against the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics and the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.

The women visit the Mystics today at 2 p.m. in Halifax, before taking on the Dragons in Church Point Sunday at 11 a.m. The men follow that with a 1 p.m. matchup with the Dragons.

The women’s team is 2-0 after defeating Dal-AC and Mount Allison last weekend. Mount Saint Vincent is also 2-0 while the Dragons are 0-2.

Brittany States and Abby Hyndman led the Hurricanes attack last weekend with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, in the two combined matches.

On the men’s side, Holland College and the Universite Sainte-Anne kickoff the season Sunday and the Hurricanes hope to add to last season’s 5-0 record versus the Dragons.

Brett Butler (Charlottetown), Jeff MacDonald, Marcus Lapointe, Keith Johnston (Summerside), Nicholas Menzies and Aaron Pugh return to a ‘Canes lineup which finished first last season at 13-2 record but fell in the ACAA finals to St. Thomas.

New this year to the ‘Canes are Zach Thibodeau (Charlottetown), Riley O’Keefe, Kamden Arsenault (Summerside) and Ethan Nadeau.

The Hurricanes next home games are Saturday, Nov. 17, versus the Unversite Sainte-Anne. Start times are 4:30 p.m. (women) and 6:30 p.m. (men) at Holland College.
