CAVENDISH, P.E.I. — Curtis Hall has a six-shot lead heading into today’s final round of the Cooke Insurance P.E.I. Amateur.
The Charlottetown native followed up a 4-under 68 first round on Friday with an even-par 72 on Saturday to sit 4-under 140 for the championship at The Eagles Glenn of Cavendish.
Summerside’s Adam Gallant, Kensington’s Tim Yorke and Montague’s Saulomon Lanigan are tied for second at 2-over 146.
Yorke used the best round of the day Saturday, 1-under 71, to move up the leaderboard. He had five birdies and four bogeys.
Senior
Charlottetown’s Ernest Corrigan has a one-shot lead over Nelson Thompson of Truro, N.S., heading into the final round in the senior men’s division.
Thompson’s even-par round on Saturday was tops among the senior men. Corrigan was 3-over 75 and sits 3-over 147 after two rounds. Thompson was 4-over on Friday and sits 4-over 148 for the tournament.
New London’s Steve Ball is four shots back at 151.
Women
Cornwall’s Fiona Thompson is four strokes up on Stanhope’s Chrissie MacLauchlan for the lead on the women’s side.
Thompson had the low score on the women’s side on Saturday with a 5-over 77 and sits 9-over 153 for the tournament.
MacLauchlan leads the senior women’s division by four strokes over Stratford’s Sherry White.
MacLauchlan was 9-over 81 on Saturday for a two-round total of 157. White was 8-over 80 on Saturday to stand at 161 after two rounds.
The first golfers hit the course today at 7 a.m.
