SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A perfect two-hole ride sealed the way to victory for Noundidnt Blue Chip and capped off a six-win performance by driver David Dowling Sunday at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
In the $2,800 featured pace, Adkins Hanover (Ambyr Campbell) went to the front and controlled the race with splits of 29.2, 1:00.4 and 1:29.3 while fending off a first-over advance from Woodmere Ideal Art (Norris Rogers).
Dowling, a Warren Grove resident, sat pretty in the two-hole with Noudidnt Blue Chip for the duration of the race until he powered up for a neck decision in 1:58.3. Adkins Hanover was at the wire for second while Pictonian Storm (Myles Heffernan Sr.) was third. Noudidnt Blue Chip is owned and trained by Neal Moase of Warren Grove.
Dowling started the day by capturing the first five dashes before capture the Race 9 feature. The action started as he steered The Devils Cut to a 2:02 victory for Chris MacKay of French River then won with Bugtown Superstar in 2:02.2 for Brian Walsh of Albany. Woodmere Oleksiak romped by nine lengths in Race 3 in 1:58.3 for Dowling and trainer Earl Watts of Hampshire. Trainer Elton Millar of Tyne Valley supplied Dowling with wins four and five as Ramset overcame an early break to win in 2:01.3 then Twice As Bright cruised to victory in 1:58.4.
Live racing continues at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park Monday with the Future Stars of 2019 taking place at 6 p.m. There’s also live cards Thursday at 6:30 p.m and Saturday at 6 p.m. at the capital oval while Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway returns to action Monday, July 1, at 1 p.m.
