The all-age record holder at the Charlottetown Driving Parker was euthanized Friday in Ontario.


Part Shark was put down after being injured during warm-up at Western Fair District in London.


“The harness racing world on Prince Edward Island obviously is saddened,” said Lee Drake, Red Shores Charlottetown’s marketing and sales manager. “We were … shocked by the news.”


The horse is owned by Secret Weapon Stables of Waterloo, Ont. On Aug. 21, 2010, during the 51st running of Sobeys Gold Cup and Saucer, the four-year-old gelding set a new pacing record of 1:51. Wayne Preszcator was the trainer while driver Scott Zeron was in the bike.


Standardbred Canada said Park Shark put together a career record reading 25-21-12 in 100 starts while banking $366,425 in purses. The six-year-old Four Starzz Shark-Pop Art gelding was trained by Mark Austin as a youngster before moving into  Preszcator's care for the remainder of his career.
