RED DEER, Alta. — A pair of Islanders set personal bests in long track speed skating on the first day of competition at the Canada Games in Red Deer, Alta.
Carter Bruce finished the 1,500-metre race in 2:36.62 while Matthew McKenna stopped the clock in 2:36.68. They finished 30 and 31, respectively. Manitoba’s Tyson Langelaar won the gold in 1:56.12.
The 500-metre boys’ finals go today at 1 p.m. Atlantic while the short track qualifications go at 1 p.m.
