Attack set to begin ringette playoffs today

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Atlantic Attack begins defence of its National Ringette League title today when the squad opens the post-season against the Richmond Hill Lightning.

Game 1 in the best-of-three Eastern Conference series goes, at 10:30 a.m., in Riverview, N.B. Game 2 is at 7:15 p.m. in Memramcook, N.B. Game 3, if needed, is Sunday, at 9:45 a.m., in Bouctouche, N.B.

The Attack, which includes Stratford native and defenceman Ashley Hollis, finished third in the conference with a 20-8-0-0 record while the Lightning finished eighth (8-19-0-1).

Hollis’ squad swept the Lightning in three regular season games and scored a league-high 222 goals led by Martine Caissie’s 58 markers and 102 points and 45 goals and 93 points from Jenny Snowdon.

The winner advances to the Canadian ringette championships April 7-13 in Charlottetown and Summerside.
