CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Hunters Ale House Mudmen have won another championship.

The Prince Edward Island squad held on to win the Nova Scotia Division 2 title with a dramatic 18-17 win over arch-rival Halifax Tars.
It was a hard-hitting defensive battle and the wind played advantage to each team when they had it. Fans were entertained to a smash fest and both teams ran and hit hard all day.
The Tars kicker had a last-second penalty kick to win the game. On a day where he was hitting every kick, he shanked his straight-on attempt that would have won the game. Seconds later, on the following kickoff, the Tars attempted a drop goal to win the game and also barely missed wide.
The Mudmen capitalized on hard defence and hard running to shut down the Tars. Spencer Messiah and Brandon Thomas were key contributors in the victory by making key tackles and rucking.
Tyler Jurkowski and Spencer Messiah each scored a try for the Mudmen. Grant MacAdam contributed a penalty kick while Mark Lloyd added a conversion and a drop goal.
In First Division action, the Mudmen defeated the Valley 43-5 to improve to 6-1 (won-lost) on the season. Their next match is Sept. 28 in Halifax against HRFC.
The Mudmen Division Two team has earned a berth in the Maritime championships in November in New Brunswick.
