CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Emmett Lyons and Cale Pierce both had a goal and an assist Wednesday as the A&S Scrap Metal Metros doubled the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings 4-2.
The Metros (4-3-1) leapfrogged the Red Wings (4-2-0) into first place in the Island Junior Hockey League standings with the win.
Lyons recorded the winning goal 8:34 into the third period at Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown. Teddy Robins and Nik Reeves also scored in the victory. Keegan Mitchell had two assists while singles went to Ryan Boswall and Grant MacAdam.
Silas Handrahan and Sam Hackett replied with goals for Western while assists went to Alex Morrissey, Bradley Campbell and Michael McRae.
Noah Laybolt made 32 saves in the win while Carter Champion stopped 23 shots in the loss.
The Metros held 2-1 leads after the first and second periods.
The Metros hit the road Friday to play the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (3-2-0) at 7:45 p.m.
