KENSINGTON – Carson Lund and Cole McKeigan had big offensive performances in leading the Eastern Express to victory on Tuesday night.
Lund scored a hat trick and drew assists on two others for a five-point effort, and McKeigan scored twice and earned two helpers for four points as the Express topped the Mid-Isle Matrix 7-0 at Community Gardens.
The Express led the P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League contest 2-0 after the first and second periods, before erupting for five unanswered third-period goals to put the game out of reach.
Drew Chapman had a perfect night in goal for the Express.
Lance Kennedy and Avery Brown rounded out the scoring for the Express, who improved to 7-7-4 (won-lost-tied). Sam Parsons (3), Seth MacLeod (2), Alex Dixon, Gabe Hartlen, Dylan Blackett and Jack Campbell chipped in with assists.
Mid-Isle’s record is 3-16-0.
