Wyand has three-point night as Mid-Isle defeats Central in midget AAA action

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Reese Wyand had a goal and two assists to lead the Robin’s Mid-Isle Matrix to a 7-3 victory over the Sherwood Drug Mart Central Attack Thursday in Prince Edward Island Midget AAA Hockey League action.

Joe MacEachern, Aaron McCloskey, Angus Beaton and Carson MacKay each had a goal and an assist in the road victory at Cody Banks Arena. Jayden Murphy and Lucas Buch also scored in the win.

Drew Dorion had two assists for the Matrix while Colin Goodwin and Matthew Mills each chipped in one.

Kyle Connell had a goal and an assist for the Attack while Matthew Dunn and Tyler Worth each added a goal. Justin Richard, Ben Watts, Cameron Jennings-Hughes and John MacKinnon all contributed an assist.

Ty Arsenault earned the win while Keegan Duffy was tagged with the loss.

The Matrix got off to a good start, holding a 3-0 lead after the first period and taking a 5-2 lead to the third. Mid-Isle went 1-for-2 on the power play while Central was 1-for-3.

The first-place Matrix, who have earned points in nine straight games, improved to 8-2-3 and are two points up on the Attack (7-5-3) before Friday’s action.
