MONCTON, N.B. — The Moncton Wildcats built 2-0 and 5-0 period leads en route to a 5-3 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League pre-season action.

Connor Richard scored twice in the victory while Vincent Labelle, Charles-Antoine Pilote and Jeremy Berube added singles in Moncton.

Anthony Hamel, Ben Boy and Ryan Maynard scored power-play goals for Charlottetown. Justin Gill and Patrick LeBlanc each had two assists while Zac Beauregard had the other.

Giovacchino DiMattia stopped 18 shots for the victory while Nicholas Sheehan allowed three goals on 18 shots in relief. Chad Arsenault stopped 20 shots in the loss.

The Islanders were 3-for-5 on the power play while the Wildcats were 1-for-3.
