MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings extended their win total to double digits Tuesday night.
The undefeated Red Wings downed the host Hynes Paving Maniacs 6-1 at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague to improve their Island Junior Hockey League-leading record to 10-0-0 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Alex Morrissey (2), Thomas Rennie (1-1), Connor Morrissey (1-1), Bradley Campbell (1-1) and Isaac Knox scored for the Red Wings, who received points from 12 different players. Silas Handrahan (2), Isaac Callaghan (2), Ethan Beaulieu, Matt Thompson, Alex Hutchinson, Chandler Wood and Dawson McCormack added assists.
Jason Poley, assisted by Jacob MacEachern and Jack King, answered for the Maniacs (3-11-0).
The Red Wings led 2-0 after the opening period and extended that margin to 6-1 following 40 minutes.
Winning goaltender Cole Gallant turned aside 15 of 16 shots. Nicholas Jamieson was much busier in the Maniacs’ goal, stopping 54 of 60 shots.
League action resumes Wednesday as the Maniacs visit the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros (6-7-1) at the Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown. Game time is 8 p.m.
