SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals have made another jump up the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) top-20 rankings.
The Capitals, who lead the Maritime Junior Hockey League with a 23-3-1 (won-lost-overtime losses) record, have moved from No. 7 to No. 3 in the latest rankings released Monday.
The Capitals are 15-0-1 in their last 16 games and have earned 31 of a possible 32 points during that stretch.
The Capitals are coming off back-to-back road victories over the weekend – a 7-3 decision over the Fredericton Red Wings (14-10-1) on Saturday night and a come-from-behind 3-2 shootout victory over the Edmundston Blizzard (15-6-4) on Sunday.
The Caps are back on the road Thursday taking on the Pictou County Crushers (15-8-1) in New Glasgow, N.S. The Caps begin a five-game homestand versus the Miramichi Timberwolves (8-15-4) on Saturday.
Still No. 1
The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) remain the top-ranked junior A team in the country. Brooks is 31-1-1.
Another AJHL entry, the Sherwood Park Crusaders (26-3-0), went from No. 3 to No. 2 this week.

The Capitals were the only team from the 12-team Maritime Junior Hockey League to be recognized nationally this week.
