Vipers defeat Maniacs 5-4 in IJHL action

MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — Nick Trainor and affiliate player Dixon MacLeod each had a goal and an assist to lead the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers to a 5-4 victory over the Hynes Paving Maniacs Tuesday in Island Junior Hockey League (IJHL) action in Montague.

Kyle McGuigan scored the winner 8:45 into the second period while Ryan Richards and Taylor Read also found the back of the net in the victory. Blake Gallant, Noah Stewart, Clay MacLean and Dylan Wheatley each had an assist.

Dawson Palmer led the Maniacs with a goal and two assists. Bret Cheverie, Nick Steele and Cooper Church also scored for the home side. Cameron Nelson had two helpers while singles went to Ben MacIsaac, Larkin Kennedy, Jason Poley and Ty Peardon.

Ben Parent made 26 saves for the win while Cam Duffy turned aside 25 shots in the loss.

The Vipers held 2-1 and 5-2 period leads.

Kensington is 1-1-0 on the season while the Maniacs are 0-1-0.
