FREDERICTON, N.B. — The UPEI Panthers won their third straight game Friday in Fredericton, N.B., by defeating the St. Thomas Tommies 3-1 in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.
Faith Steeves on the power play, Maria Clinton and Katelynn Nice scored for the Panthers with Jolena Gillard, Lexie Murphy and Kaylee Dufresne each recording an assist.
Emma Wilson, from Jacey Dane and Emily Oleksuk, scored on the power play for St. Thomas midway through the third.
Camille Scherger stopped 20 shots for the win while Caroline Pietroski stopped 29 in the loss.
Each team was 1-for-4 on the power play. The Panthers held 1-0 and 2-0 period leads.
UPEI improved to 12-2-1 while St. Thomas is 7-8-0. The Panthers remain in Fredericton overnight and will play the UNB Reds (9-5-0) Saturday at 3 p.m.
