WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Both UPEI basketball teams dropped close decisions on the road against Acadia on Saturday night.
The women Panthers fell 78-70 while Acadia prevailed 80-78 in the men’s contest in Wolfville, N.S.
In the women’s game, Haley MacDonald sank a game-high 26 points to lead first-place Acadia, which improved to 14-3 (won-lost) after jumping out to a 48-31 lead at the half.
Reese Baxendale (22) and Jenna Mae Ellsworth (16) were the top point-getters for the third-place Panthers (13-3).
The Panthers’ next game is at Dalhousie (2-14) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Men

In the men’s game, Ryan Munro’s 20-point effort off the bench sparked the Axemen. Forest Mahoney added 17 points.
Elijah Miller had a 29-point effort for the Panthers while Emmanuel Ndatuje added 12.
Acadia led 38-31 at the intermission.
UPEI also visits Dalhousie (15-1) on Saturday. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
