CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The racetrack at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park (CDP) will be closed most of this week for required grading and preparation for the upcoming season.
Red Shores said the closure begins Tuesday at 7 a.m. and continues until Friday at 5 p.m. The company in co-operation with the P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association jointly scheduled the closure.
The racetrack will be reconditioned to the original specifications and requirements.
Depending on the status of the project, there may be limited availability of the track and/or the infield prior to 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. daily for use by on-track tenants only. Red Shores will update all horse people daily on the status of this availability.
The first races of the season are scheduled for Thursday, June 4, at 6 p.m., without customers at the track. The season was slated to begin May 2 before the coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) pandemic.
