SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Two teams going in different directions meet tonight in Summerside.

The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals (15-3-0-0) enter tonight’s matchup on a seven-game win streak while the Miramichi Timberwolves (4-11-3-0) are 0-5-1-0 in their last six games. Game time is 7 p.m. at Credit Union Place.

“They have been winless in their last few and we’ve been rolling a bit,” Capitals head coach Billy McGuigan said Wednesday. “We have two tough games on the weekend in Edmundston, so this is kind of a trap game here Thursday night. We just prepare like we typically would and get ready to play Miramichi first.”

The Capitals are likely to get Miramichi’s best effort with four Islanders in the Timberwolves lineup.

Charlottetown’s Kennedy Gallant is second on the team with 16 points in 15 games behind only Jason Imbeault, who has 25 points. Charlottetown right-winger Connor McGregor has nine points in 15 games while Cardigan defenceman Lucas MacAulay has five points in 14 games and Days Corner blue-liner Jack DesRoches has three assists in 11 games.

“I think teams really get up to play us and I think it’s going to be no different here (tonight),” McGuigan said. “There’s a number of Islanders on that hockey club, so you’ll see some local friends and family come out to watch them and cheer them on.”

While the Capitals lead the league, they are not getting too high, McGuigan said. They are trying to get better daily at practice by playing with pace and learning as they go.

Alec MacVicar will get the start tonight in the Summerside crease. He is 5-1-0 with a 3.67 goals-against average and an .896 save percentage.

Capitals captain Brodie MacArthur and Kallum Muirhead lead the league in scoring with 35 and 34 points, respectively.

Summerside heads to Edmundston, N.B., this weekend to play the Blizzard (12-5-0-0) Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
