STRATFORD, P.E.I. — The Alley Stratford Athletics defeated the Cardigan Clippers 9-3 Wednesday to take Game 1 of their best-of-five Kings County Baseball League semifinal.
Brady Arsenault went five strong innings for the victory while Jonathan Arsenault pitched the final two innings in relief.
Charles MacLellen was the losing pitcher with relief from Dean Carrol.
Jacob Smith went 2-for-4 to pace the top-seeded A’s while Adam Smith and Allister Smith each went 1-for-3 with key RBI hits in a five-run fifth inning, which broke the game open. The Clippers were led by Carter MacLellan, who went 2-for-3, Kevin Macleod and Josh Macdonald, who both went 1-for-3.
Game 2 will be Sunday with the time to be announced.
