Storm loses by two in overtime to Sudbury

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Braylon Rayson scored 11 of the Sudbury Five’s 14 points in overtime to beat the host Island Storm 124-122 Saturday in National Basketball League of Canada action.

Jaylen Bland had a game-high 46 points to go with 10 rebounds to lead the Five while Rayson had 30 points and J.R. Holder had 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Johnathan Loyd had 36 points, 13 assists, five rebounds, four steals and a block to lead the Storm. Robbie Robinson had 25 points and nine rebounds while Alex Campbell had 23 points and 13 assists. Antwon Lillard also had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. He hit a game-tying trey at the buzzer to force overtime.

The Five held quarter leads of 27-18, 60-47 and 81-78 but the Storm outscored the visitors 32-29 to force the extra frame.

The Five improved to 11-7 while the Storm dropped to 6-15. The Storm hosts the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans (6-15) today at 2 p.m.
