Slow start costs Storm in 40-point loss at Moncton

MONCTON, N.B. — The Island Storm fell behind early and couldn’t climb out of the hole in dropping a 40-point decision to the National Basketball League of Canada’s top team Friday in Moncton.

The Magic held quarter leads of 34-15, 75-48 and 101-65 en route to the 130-90 victory.

Corey Allmond led the home side with 33 points, including 8-for-15 shooting from three-point territory, eight rebounds and six assists while Marcus Lewis had 17 points and Jeremiah Mordi and Ronald Delph each chipped in 15 points.

Robbie Robinson led the Storm with 24 points and hauled in seven rebounds while Lewis Diankulu contributed 13 points and eight boards off the bench.

Johnathan Loyd and Alex Campbell scored 11 and 12 points, respectively, on a combined 9-for-26 shooting. They each had six rebounds while Loyd chipped in seven assists and two steals.

The Magic is 19-4 while the Storm is 6-17. The Storm host the Windsor Express on Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.
