Shea snipes as Tignish Aces shellack Sherwood Metros

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Thomas Shea had four goals Monday as the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces pounded the host Sherwood Metros 12-0 in Razzy’s Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League action.

Dawson Sellick, Will Tuplin and Brayden Arsenault each had two goals at Cody Banks Arena while Jax Harper and Tyson Beckingham added singles. Brayden Handrahan and Arsenault each had three assists while Lexin Gaudet and Alex McRae recorded two apiece. Single helpers went to Shea, Tuplin, Sellick, Harper, Beckingham, Tristan Cahill, Oliver Smallman and Nathan Paynter.

McGuire Gallant stopped 23 shots for the shutout. Keenan Hayden allowed 11 goals on 47 shots in 56 minutes while Sumner Docherty stopped four of five shots in four minutes of action.

Tignish went 5-for-7 on the power play and killed all three of Sherwood’s chances with the man advantage.

The Aces, who held 1-0 and 6-0 period leads, improved to a league-leading 8-1-1 while the Metros (2-7-0) are fourth in the five-team circuit.
