SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — It was a good night for two Prince Edward Islanders with the New York Islanders.
Ross Johnston opened the scoring 6:44 into the second period to help spark the Islanders to a 5-1 road win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. The 25-year-old forward of Suffolk played 12:13 while registering two shots on goal and a pair of hits.
In 15 regular-season games, Johnston, who played junior A hockey with the Summerside Western Capitals and major junior with the Moncton Wildcats, Victoriaville Tigres and Charlottetown Islanders, has two goals, 35 and is a plus-2.
Islanders’ rookie defenceman Noah Dobson of Summerside was also in the Islanders’ lineup against the Lightning. He played 9:34, had one shot on goal and two blocks while finishing the game a plus-2.
The 19-year-old Dobson has registered two assists, two penalty minutes and is a plus-3 in eight regular-season contests.
