KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — The Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers scored five goals in the second period to defeat the Hynes Paving Maniacs 6-1 Sunday in Island Junior Hockey League action.

Tayler Read led the way with three goals for the host Vipers while Dylan Wheatley, Brett MacDonald and Nick Trainor also scored at Credit Union Centre. Ryan Richards and Riley Gallant each had two assists in the victory while singles went to Wheatley, Logan Vandervelden, Landon Clow, Morgan Darbyson and Clay MacLean.

Jacob MacEachern and Jack King replied with goals for the Maniacs while Kyle Martin had the lone helper.

Ben Parent stopped 43 shots in the win while Nicolas Jamieson turned aside 54 shots in the loss.

The Vipers went 2-for-2 on the power play while Sherwood was 0-for-1.

The visitors led 1-0 after the first but went to the third trailing 5-1. Third-place Kensington improved to 5-5-1 and sits five points up on the last-place Maniacs (3-13-0) in the four-team circuit.
